Optimize for Google, BING or Yahoo? All or just one?

Optimizing your site will take time and dedication. Trying to figure out what each search engine wants, mastering their various algorithms would be very time consuming, and most people simply do not have the time to do that. Just about every search engine wants the same key components for ranking on their results pages. All of the search engines want a site to have numerous backlinks that are strong. They want keywords that relate to the site and content that is valid rather than filled with fluff and nonsense. The search engines search for titles, Meta tags, and alt tags when ranking a site. They also look for the coding that is on a site. If your site has strong coding, a rich link structure, and easily navigated architecture, any search engine will view your site as being valid and valuable. You do not have to take the time to learn every detail about each search engines algorithms. This would be a waste of your time and could cause you to pigeon hole your site to great rankings on one search engine and poor rankings on another search engine. If you have the key features that every search engine wants, your site will rank high on all of them. All of the smaller factors that are considered uniquely for each search engine will not matter if the key elements they require are met. Taking the time to build a valid site that is rich in valuable content, has great architecture, and linked properly will payoff much more than trying to master algorithms.
