A Day with The Feed: Pivotal’s Sponsored Walk Around Norwich

Last Friday, the Pivotal team swapped desks for walking shoes and took part in a sponsored walk around Norwich in support of The Feed.

This walk formed part of the wider fundraising effort behind Tait’s upcoming marathon, with all funds raised going towards supporting The Feed and the work they do across the city. You can read more about Tait’s story and why this matters in our previous blog, as well as find the link to the fundraiser.

The aim of the day was simple. Spend time together as a team, support a cause we care about, and learn more about the work happening across Norwich.

Starting at the Social Supermarket

Our first stop was The Feed’s Social Supermarket. We were welcomed in with teas, coffees and a very appreciated serving of cake before being given a tour of the space.

The Social Supermarket exists to make food more accessible for people across Norwich who are feeling the impact of the rising cost of living. It offers a wide range of groceries at reduced prices, including fresh, chilled and frozen food, alongside everyday essentials. Products are typically priced at around 60% of standard supermarket costs.

What stood out was how thoughtfully everything is set up. There’s no complicated process to access it. Membership is free, with no formal assessment required. Alongside food, there are also free toiletries and period products available through their Hygiene Bank.

It’s a practical, dignified approach to support that clearly makes a real difference in the community.

Waterloo Park Café

From there, we continued on to The Feed’s café in Waterloo Park.

Set within one of Norwich’s Green Flag parks, the café has a strong community feel. The team there kindly treated us to juice and sandwiches, giving us a chance to refuel and take in the surroundings.

The café serves a wide range of homemade food, from breakfasts and hot meals to lighter options and cakes. It’s a space that feels open and welcoming, whether you’re stopping by for a coffee or spending time in the park.

A Stop at NUA

Next, we passed The Feed’s location at Norwich University of the Arts. While this particular café is only open to students and staff, we took the opportunity to stop outside and grab a photo.

It was a good reminder of how The Feed’s work extends across different parts of the city, reaching people in different environments.

Back Towards the Office

On the way back, the team made a quick stop at the pub for a well-earned drink before heading into the office to finish the day.

Waiting for us there was another highlight. A selection of cakes catered by The Feed, which was the perfect way to round things off.

Why It Matters

Spending the day walking between locations gave us a much clearer view of the scale and impact of The Feed’s work.

It’s one thing to talk about supporting a charity. It’s another to see firsthand how that support translates into real services for people across the city.

From affordable food to welcoming community spaces, everything they do is grounded in helping people access the basics with dignity.

Supporting The Feed

This walk is just one part of the wider effort behind Tait’s marathon fundraiser.

If you’d like to support, you can read more about his story in our previous blog and donate via the fundraiser page. Every contribution helps The Feed continue providing vital support across Norwich.

If donating isn’t possible, sharing the fundraiser or spreading awareness goes a long way too.
