EverCalc™
If you’re unsure if something is “evergreen”, this formula can quantify evergreen potential while allowing room for a little subjective judgment. We’ve built this handy calculator to help make this a simple process for you.
Evergreen Score = (Relevance + Longevity + Adaptability) ÷ 3
Relevance (0–10): How broadly applicable is the content or idea?
Score higher if it appeals to a universal audience or addresses fundamental needs, interests, or principles that don’t change over time.
Longevity (0–10): How long is this likely to stay useful or applicable?
Score higher if the content isn’t tied to trends, current events, or rapidly evolving technology.
Adaptability (0–10): How easily can this be updated or re-contextualised?
Score higher if it can be slightly adjusted to fit new contexts or advancements without losing its core message.
Example:
Let's assess a blog about "10 ways to improve sleep naturally":
Relevance: 9 (Sleep is a universal need.)
Longevity: 8 (The advice is unlikely to go out of style, but minor updates may be needed.)
Adaptability: 9 (Easily updated with new research or tips.)
Evergreen Score = (9 + 8 + 9) ÷ 3 = 8.67
If the score is above 7, it’s likely evergreen.
For anything you're evaluating, ask yourself:
Will this matter in 1, 5, or even 10 years?
Is it tied to temporary trends or timeless needs?
Can it be refreshed without becoming obsolete?
